Local sources in Kabul report that Taliban fighters have shot and killed a former officer of the Special Police Forces named Ahmad Faheem Haidari in the Qasaba area of the city, right in front of his house.<\/p>\n
According to sources, Haidari was originally from Nijrab district in Kapisa province and was targeted around 4 p.m. on Friday, July 26.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, in Paktia, local sources say that a former army soldier who had been detained by the Taliban about six months ago was killed after being tortured in a private prison.<\/p>\n
The former soldier, identified as Abdul Zahir, was a resident of Gardez, the capital of Paktia. Signs of brutal torture and execution were evident on his body.<\/p>\n
Sources add that after killing Abdul Zahir, the Taliban informed his family and told them to retrieve his body.<\/p>\n
Despite the Taliban\u2019s repeated claims of a general amnesty, the rising number of extrajudicial killings indicates the group\u2019s failure to uphold its commitments.
