\nSources told the Rawyat News Agency on Thursday, May 1st, that Taliban militants, after carrying out these forced marriages, transfer the girls to southern provinces and unknown locations.
\nAccording to local sources, Taliban fighters enter people’s homes at night and marry girls in the presence of witnesses, mainly Taliban men and women, in exchange for a few thousand Afghanis.
\nFamilies are worried about their daughters’ well-being, as they do not hear from them after the marriage and do not know where they are.
\nHuman rights activists say that this process is not only a violation of human rights but also indicates the economic and social pressures exerted on the people.
\nIn recent months, numerous reports of violations of the rights of women and girls by the Taliban group have been published in Afghanistan.
\nMost local sources in Ghor province reported that a young girl in the Tiore district of that province set herself on fire and ended her life after being threatened with forced marriage to members of the Taliban group.
\nSuch behaviors, given the country’s critical situation and lack of international oversight, have raised serious concerns among human rights organizations.
