Hibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Taliban group, says that despite global criticism, he will not back down from “implementing Qisas (retaliation in kind) and other Islamic Hudud (prescribed punishments).”
\nThe Taliban leader said on Sunday, April 14, at a meeting called the “Seminar for Hajj Teachers” in Kandahar: “We are happy to have our heads cut off, but we are not happy if Sharia is not implemented.”
\nThe audio file of the Taliban leader’s speech was published on X by Hamdullah Fitrat, the deputy spokesman of the group.
\nHibatullah once again claimed that supporting him means standing with God. He said: “If these people are standing by me, they are standing by God, they are with the Sharia of God.”
\nThe Taliban leader, who considers himself Amir al-Mu’minin (Leader of the Believers), said in another part of his speech: “Whoever stands with me stands with Allah. God forbid the day we compromise on Sharia.”<\/p>\n
The Taliban leader claimed that the international community is standing against the Taliban regime. According to him, the West does not want Islamic Hudud to be implemented, but he will not back down.
\nAkhundzada warned that he would use force in implementing what he calls “the rule and Sharia.” He said: “In the past, a word was said and there was no compulsion, but now the issue is a ruling; whether someone wants it or not, we will forcibly make them accept it.”
\nThis is while the Taliban, despite repeated efforts and consultations, have not been able to gain legitimacy in the international community in the past four years.
